All eyes will be on India’s star batsman Virat Kohli as he gears up to feature in his 4th I ICC 50-over World Cup overall. It is a fact that Virat Kohli likes playing against the Aussies as he believes that the challenge brings out the very best in him. Kohli has a staggering record of 2228 runs against Australia in 45 innings which is backed up with 8 tons and 12 fifty+ scores.

Eyeing his second 50-over World Cup title, run machine Kohli has had an impressive record in the history of the tournament. At an average of 46.81, the 36-year-old has scored a total of 1030 runs in 26 World Cup matches. He also has a record of smashing 5 back-to-back fifties in the 2019 edition of the tournament.

 2. Adam Zampa

Right-arm leg spinner, Adam Zampa from Australia could be a key player for them not only in the opening fixture against India but also going ahead in the tournament. Zampa is the only front-line spinner in the Australian ranks and therefore, his form will be really important in Australi’s quest for their 6th title.

The Chepauk pitch is generally known for its spin-friendly conditions and therefore Zampa holds the key tomorrow for Australia. In 2023, he has bagged 15 wickets in 9 matches and has been in terrific form in the recent past. Another positive is that Zampa was awarded the Man of the Match award for his match-winning spell of 4 wickets against India back in March earlier this year.

3.  David Warner

Known as ‘the Bull’, David Warner will be crucial at the top of the order for Australia in their World Cup opening encounter against India tomorrow. If he can provide a good start with the bat at the start, then the rest of the Australian batting can play around him.

He has been in good form lately, especially against India. In the recently concluded ODI series against India just before the World Cup, Warner scored three consecutive half-centuries with scores of 52.53 and 56 respectively.

4. Kuldeep Yadav

India will rely on the services of Kuldeep Yadav in the spin department in tomorrow’s encounter. Kuldeep has improved extremely well over the last few years after remodifying his bowling action. The left-arm chinaman will enter tomorrow’s match on the back of an impressive performance at the Asia Cup 2023, where he picked a total of 9 wickets in 4 matches.

His best includes the magical spell of 5/25 against Pakistan. The 28-year-old could be a threat to the Australian batsmen tomorrow and is a key player to watch out for.

5. Mitchell Starc

Come a World Cup year, Mitchell Starc always brings out his best game for Australia. That is why he has been such a key player for the Aussies. The left-arm fast bowler will be a crucial player for Australia not only in tomorrow’s encounter against India but also going forward in the World Cup as Starc along with Cummins and Hazlewood forms a formidable trio of fast bowlers for the Aussies.

In the 18 matches that Starc has played in the World Cup so far, he has picked a total of 49 wickets at an excellent average of 14.81 which is amazing for any bowler. The left-arm quick also has 3 five wicket-hauls under his name and is a force to be reckoned with.

Not to forget, Starc will be entering tomorrow’s match against India having picked a hat-trick in Australia’s warm-up fixture against the Netherlands. In that match, the ball was seen getting released perfectly out of Starc’s hands which is an encouraging sign for Australia and not so much for the opponents.

As both India and Australia look to start their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign with a win, a high quality match can be expected. Some key players are present in both teams apart from the key players mentioned above, who will make it an exciting contest to look upon. Some interesting match-ups could be seen tomorrow like Glenn Maxwell vs Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah vs Steve Smith, etc. which makes tomorrow’s match a much-anticipated thriller to look upon.
